CRYSTALLOGRAPHY
Quartz belongs to the trigonal crystal system, forming through slow cooling of silica-rich hydrothermal fluids. This specimen developed as a massive, twinned crystal, where multiple crystal domains grew together along the c-axis — the primary optical and structural axis.
C-Axis (Optical Axis)
Runs vertically through the crystal and defines its direction of growth. Light traveling parallel to this axis experiences no birefringence, supporting quartz’s clarity and brilliance.
A-Axes
Three equivalent horizontal axes at 120° define quartz’s symmetry. Light crossing them separates into two rays, creating birefringence and internal light play.
Twinning & Resonance
Original twinning planes create striations and internal reflections. These zones produce shimmering optical interference and energetic resonance.
ENERGETIC RESONANCE
